Antiquated FRIDAY!!

HAPPY FRIDAY BAD GIRLIES!!  Y’all ready to get your antique vibes on?!

For this layout I didn’t actually use anything vintage or antique at all but I think it really has a wonderful vintage french victorian feel to it and it just suits the feeling of the photos and the event I was scrapbooking so well.

To create this feeling you have to have lots of details, layers and rich textures.  This kit was perfect to create that feeling.  The papers had plenty of wonderful elements you could select to focus on and cut out to make focal points and really use a embellishments rather than over all background papers.  I really loved the Prima paper with all the frames, this really helped to set the tone.  Also creating some little mini hat pins with the pearls gave some great dimension and richness.  To create these I just strung the pearls on some jewelry head pins and secured them between the pearls with a dot of hot glue.  The lace really gives texture and a vintage victorian feeling.

I really loved the pretty blue and metallic silver flowers in the pattered Prima paper but I thought a whole sheet of it would be too busy and overpowering for this layout.  Cutting out a few and placing them as embellishments worked really well again some the simpler pattern paper and some coordinating card stock I had on hand.

For the title work, I used the Prima stencil and the Bad Girls gesso and scraped a dollop of it across the stencil then pulled it up so it would be kinda think.  Once dried It gave a somewhat raised, embossed effect…not as raised as modeling paste but very lovely and perfect for durability in a scrapbook album.  Then I rubbed some of the silver Prima wax across it with my finger and dug through my alphabet stash to find the perfect letters.  I loved that I found some letters that were a coordinating color and had some texture to them, I think that added a lot to the overall feeling of the page.  If you didn’t have letters with texture, you could smear a bit of thick paint, emboss them with embossing powder or glitter them and that would be great texture options as well.

Lastly, I added a generous touch of gesso on the Prima flower and a heavy inking all around the page as well as a silver wax rub around the edge of the photos.

These little inking and gesso touches really do give them a finishing vintage feeling.  I hope you can take some of these touches to give your next layout or project a vintage vibe!
