Create & Inspire Art Journal Page | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls! Donna here with a new art journal page using the Tag Page in the Haute Mess Art Journal as well as some acrylic paints and mediums.

I started with stamping the art journal page and tags then splattering some acrylic paints (Sweet Candy Kissed, X-rated and Kiss & Don’t Tell) to the page and tags. Then I decorated using cut apart pieces from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and stickers from Kaisercraft Scrap studio collection.  I used a stencil and the Haute Mess modeling paste as a last thought, to add more texture.

It’s a really easy and simple project and I love how this turned out. The colors and textures are pretty up close and in real life.

I hope you liked my post today and it inspired you to be creative!

Here is a process video you can watch:

Spring Market Art Journal Page

Hello all! It’s Lisa here today to share some inspiration with you.

I have an Art Journal spread, that I created to give me back the feel of Spring,
as it is starting cool down here now.

For this one, I have started with the polka dot half page and the black cardstock page behind it.
I wanted these pages to work together.

I have used my Haute Mess White Gesso & Molding Paste to my pages.

I have then added some colour using my Haute Mess Acrylic Paints in
‘X-Rated’, ‘Couture Pink’ & Million Dollar Baby’, and stencils.

I have then added in some scrapbooking elements that gave me that spring feeling :)

Lots of layers.

There is a full process video that you can watch
HERE.

I hope you like what I have created.

Appreciate Beauty – Tabbed Journal Page

It’s Make Art Monday… I’m going to share one of the tabbed pages from the wonderful Haute Mess Art Journals! Before I created on the page, I had a bit of fun with Gelli plates!  My 4th grade students are starting a project using the Gelli plates and learning about printmaking in my classroom so I thought I’d bring one home and have a little art making fun myself!  The Haute Mess Acrylics work beautifully on the plate!

Here are some of the beautiful prints that I made during this process:

The Gelli plate is a gelatin based printing plate that you can reuse over and over.  I love how the Haute Mess Acrylics work on this plate and how wonderful they transfer to paper! You will have endless possibilities and lots of papers for your journals, artwork and anything else your heart desires!

After my prints dried, I took a few and ripped them to create a finished page with.

Here is the process video that I made while printing and putting my finished journal page together.  Enjoy!

I hope I’ve inspired you today to try printmaking with the Haute Mess Acrylics!

Give Me Eyes to See

Hey girlies!  Happy Monday!  Today I’m gonna show y’all what I did with this wonderful tab page in my Haute Mess journal.  I’ve got a bit of a theme going in my journal right now so I’m rolling with it and continuing what I have going on and this is what is on my mind and on my heart so in my journal it goes!

Take a look at the process video for details on how I created this background using a technique I like to call “paint smushing”.

VIEW VIDEO HERE

It’s basically adding dashes of paint to your page or canvas then covering it with another paper or in this case I used a sheet of clear acetate so you could see the process take place.  You cover the paint with the second sheet of paper and smush it, smoothing it out so the paint can blend and come to the edges a bit.  Once you peel the paper up it makes a wonderful blended and textured design.

Art Journal Page with Tags+ VIDEO by Elena

Hello there lovely creative friends! Today I’m working with tags page in my “COBBLESTONE LANE” Art Journal.

That’s what I like to do in the art journal from Bad Girls, so the fact that it has a variety of pages! No, you can do that yourself, of course but first you need to think about it :))))

The very first page in it was with pockets and tags. Maybe I wouldn’t decorate it. but in schedule for DT was clearly referred, that it is necessary to subject to embellishment this page!

How I did it you can watch in the video :)))

https://youtu.be/2GllEro5tVI

Decorated the pockets with the tags and stickers from 7 DOTs. I usually have them piling up, and then just convenient, glue smear is not necessary and it turns out very quickly!

For the first tag and I’ve got these paints from Bad Girls:  Torrid,  Last Sin ,  Distortion

On the second tag experimented with other colors Dive Bar,  C-Note,  Million Dollar Baby

For the third tag chose warm shades:Caution Tape,  Grunge,  Oops! My Bad

Well that is all from me today.
Until next time happy scrapping.

WHAT’S UP DOG?

Hi everybody! I have a fun canvas journal page to share with you today! I’ve been itching to scrapbook this photo of me and Goofy from Epcot! When we went to Disney, I made sure the guys knew that I NEEDED a picture with Goofy… I didn’t care what else we did that day, but I needed my picture. LOL

Initially, I was going to leave the left-side alone and use it for another page, but after thinking about it, I decided to use my inks and a stencil to add some fun flowers in the colors of yellow, blue and orange to kind of blend in with the colors on the right-side of the art journal spread.

I made a video of the majority of this spread. After I finished, a few hours later, I still was not happy with the layout… so I added a few more embellishments which you do not see in the video.

I had some stamps from Jillibean Soup and one said “What’s Up Dog?” Totally perfect for this page. I was so excited. LOL

You’d think I had a mad crush on Goofy or something with all the hearts, but I just like hearts… and I happen to have a good amount of them in my stash. I have been all about using up my stash lately. Every time I turn around, there’s a new collection that I want, but I am not buying. LOL

More hearts and buttons to pull this journal spread together. I am much happier with this page with the added embellishments. What do you think? Have you seen these Art Journals in the shop? Check them out! They are fab! Click here to see the video!https://youtu.be/BoGc-_YUbSI

Thanks so much for visiting today!

“Grow” | Art Journal Page Tutorial

Hello everyone! It’s Donna here to share my latest project.

For my project today, I created a soft colored background to mimic the serenity of the theme I wanted to achieve.

This is the first time I used Mannequin and Plastic Angel and I fell in love! Paired with some blues and greens, the result was amazing.

I created texture by dry brushing the acrylic paints and using a stencil and modeling paste.

Watch the process video HERE.

*I apologize in advance as the first part of the video is too bright.*

I hope you liked today’s post! Thank you for dropping by and happy crafting!

The Bee’s Knees…

Hello, creative friends!  The design team has been hard at work transforming our Haute Mess Art Journal covers into unique works of art.  I am sharing what I did to my cover today!

I have the Haute Mess Postcards From Paris Art Journal and love the script and images on the canvas.  I didn’t want to cover it completely.  I was also going through some artwork that I recently created for an art exhibit this summer and was inspired to pull some elements from my encaustic mixed media piece below.  I have a fascination with honey bees and wax.  I love the way it smells, feels and is applied to a substrate.  So, encaustic is a natural art form that I fell in love with.  I infuse drawing paper with wax and then add pastels, metal leafing and image transfer on top.

Jennifer Matott “Hive” Encaustic Mixed Media

So, for my journal I pulled many items from my stash that fit my “theme” of honeybees.  I have honeycomb shapes, chicken wire, and bee images.

First, I used the Haute Mess Gesso to tone down some of the areas of the script.  I brushed it lightly over the outside edges of the book. Then,                                                                                                       I started gluing the chicken wire to my cover using a fabric glue and then applying the Haute Mess Modeling paste over areas to hold it down .  The modeling paste is thick and flexible.  It dries pretty fast and I can paint over it later!

I used the Haute Mess Acrylic paints over the Gesso and Modeling Paste areas.  I also painted some of the chipboard and the frame (after applying several coats of Gesso to the metal).  The colors I used were:  X-Rated, Caution Tape, Guilt Trip, Dive Bar, and Drop Dead Gorgeous (my favorite color!).

I used a sponge to dab paint through a stencil using X-Rated first and then layered Caution Tape and Dive Bar over before pulling the stencil off.  It created the honeycomb look.  Once dry, I outlined some areas with a black pen.

This frame is metal and it was a bronze color.  I wanted it to blend in a bit more.  I covered it with several layers of Gesso.  Then I could add color to it.  The chipboard letters were added inside.

I die cut this cute bee from some patterned paper scraps I had.  It was attached with a Pop dot and sits inside another metal frame.

Some more details of the stenciling and chipboard.  I splattered gold ink over the surface as well.

I love this crown on the Haute Mess Art Journal.  It has just the right amount of gold and I didn’t want to cover it up.  After all, it feel it represents the Queen Bee that I am.

It was so fun to work on this art journal cover!  I love these journals so much!  There is even a little pocket inside the cover to hold brushes or whatever little treasure you want.

The Bad Girls Couture supplies I used to complete this project are:

Haute Mess Art Journal:  Postcards From Paris

Haute Mess Mediums: Gesso and  Modeling Paste

Haute Mess Acrylic paints: X-Rated, Caution Tape, Dive Bar, Guilt Trip, and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Everything else was from my stash!

I hope you get creative with a theme that inspires you!  I hope our bee population comes back and thrives and I want to continue to celebrate these little artists/ builders in my artwork as a way to bring awareness and love to the bee! I’m inspired by their hard work, beauty and final products they create.  Bee inspired by the world around you! (See what I did there??)

“I Am Transformed” Journal Page

Happy Monday Y’all!!  I hope you are having an inspiring start to your week!  Today I’m going to share a journal page I did that was inspired by some awesome paper butterfly cutouts that I’ve just been hanging on to for just the right project!

For this one I gessoed one of the cardstock pages in my Haute Mess Couture Journal and began applying matte gel under and over the cutouts to adhere them to the page.  Then stenciled molding paste and layered on various Haute Mess Acrylic paints and blended with water.  Finally I finished it off with a stamped title, accented with some Haute Mess Glass Bead Gel, rubbed on some metallic and splattered on some blue liquid ink.  Curious?  Well check out my process video I did for you!  Check out the link below!

Art Journal My Hero + VIDEO

Hello scrappy friends!

It’s Elena here today to share my  page in “COBBLESTONE LANE” Art Journal.

It has a Cream colored canvas cover.

I chose to decorate Vintage Music page.

It consists of a sheet of thick cardboard and a sheet of real music,

which are glued and stitched on the edge.

You can watch the full process video for this page

https://youtu.be/1WXrgyAs_1Y

The photo for the page is not chosen by chance. It depicts a Russian rock singer Zemfira.

She also writes lyrics and music. I love her sensual and soulful songs.

I used several shades of paint to combine the photo and the background into one.

Used Clear Gesso to glue the mini-sequins on.

They are like notes or streams of music scattered on the page

Added the appropriate meaning of the quote stickers by 7 Dots Studio.

I have used the following Products:
