Inspire Me! Old Archie and NEW Archie!

Hello everyone!

It’s Rae, and today I am sharing a mini album I made that came in the December Kit. This mini album is simply AMAZING- real vintage Archie comics for the pages! This is so unique, and I loved it so much, I almost felt guilty for covering up the pages! However, out with the old and in with the new, as the saying goes! And that’s what came to mind when I was thinking about what I would do with the album, and it was actually quite easy- I was inspired to make a fan book of the TV show Riverdale, which is a new twist on the Archie Comics- same characters, new time period and way more modern stories! My daughter is a huge fan of this show, so I thought it would be fun to make this for her.

I love how the felt flowers and gold and white Thickers from the kit coordinate so well.

For these first pages, I added some pictures of the main characters of the show to the Melissa Frances envelopes and tags. I doodled on the them for an added effect with a white acrylic paint pen. The tags are blank for now- I figured that I would let my daughter write what she wants to about the characters in there. I added black and gold twine from my stash, then clipped them all in the album using the colored clips from the kit.

Here are a couple of random pictures I grabbed off of the internet of the characters. I added the Thickers from the kit and added some of the blue glitter (also from the kit to match the hearts on the paper I used to mat the photo on the left. I cut up some of these letters and flipped them around to make my own words from the phrases.

I really did try to keep the design simple so you could still see the old comics, and I think it works well to keep the details to a minimum, which isn’t typically how a go about making projects, but I am happy with the results!

It was fun to try to pair the comic pages with the characters from the Riverdale show.

Happy Monday, Candy here to inspire you with some European flair!
Who is not inspired by Paris?  The city, the lights, the romance and of course, the Eiffel Tower!  I was so pleased to find so many Paris themed papers and elements in the November kit to play with and this picture frame, whoa, so perfect.  My fireplace mantel in my living room has Paris themed items on it and this is perfect to add to it.  Have you ever been to Paris?  It is most definitely on my BUCKET LIST and I will get there someday soon!

This finished frame is sitting on my mantel.  It is so cute.

Techniques To Enhance Any Project:
I love old school and new techniques and like to incorporate whenever I can on many projects.  Here are a couple of techniques to keep in mind:
– Use wax to enhance the frame to give it an even more weathered look than it already had
– Fussy cut elements from patterned paper, like these girls and use a dimensional foam dot to add dimension
– Roll cut pieces of paper around a pencil and glue together.  Then line up and add to your project.  Here I added it directly to the frame.
– Add fussy cut elements to other parts of your project to give it dimension

Magic Time

What inspires you? You never know where inspiration comes from ….? When the inspiration comes to you? I was inspired by the first snowflake in this photo))) This little snowflake and so beautiful ….

To select a photo, I put it on the substrate, and added a few snowflakes of chipboard on the top of the photo. I love making statement elements like this interact with my photo because it makes my photo part of the scene.

A piece of lace and wool knitwear added warmth and comfort. This lace of a set of November is very textured, and beautiful! Composition strip of paper is complemented with a wood pattern.

Snowflakes began to snow-white after painting premium white gesso on @Bad Couture girls. A few bumps and give a little time to dry.

I used the name of chipboard «Magic Time» I love the headlines in the newspaper))) This header is painted using wax pearly silver color!

The strip of patterned paper under light wood texture background will be for the title. I like this almost monochrome composition. It looks stylish and expressive due to the texture of different materials. Knitted piece provides comfort and warmth in this scheme. Small buttons look incredibly cute. 

I kept this cute cup piece of wood from Prima for so long. She was in for a long time and waited for this page … LOL   I added a little red dot, to attract attention)))  Rich set of textures complemented stripe lace pastel colors. Roll lace complete November, it was very useful))) My favorite part of the page is a cup on a knitted wool flap.

Page was really about winter. For the background, I used a wonderful sheet from the new collection Zella Teal from Prima. Color on the photos and circles on the patterned paper perfectly match. I like the layouts on a light background, they give a lot of opportunity for using different urksheny and shadow. The first snowflake is documented for memory and this layout will store memories of this day.

Happy Monday baddies! I’ve been having so much fun playing with this month’s “Joie De Vivre” kit and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. There’s so many different things you can create with this kit! I don’t know how Wendy does it… she’s da bomb! For today’s layout, I used a photo from Pinterest to inspire me!

When I first came across this image, I immediately thought of using the frames in the kit. I decided to make my first Christmas present! I will be framing this layout for my sister.

For the bottom of the layout,  mixed some blue watercolor paint from the September kit with the gesso then gently painted the gesso and paint over the screen. LOVE how smooth the Bad Girls Couture gesso is! It’s so nice.

I let the gesso dry overnight. Then I used the Wax Paste to  paint the corners of the Prima frame.

I added the brass clock from my stash then framed the larger frame with the flowers.  The butterfly is a Prima stamp I have in my stash. I used markers to color the butterfly then I glued a silver pearl to the center of the butterfly. I stamped the 4/29 on to patterned paper then I cut it into a banner using a pair of scissors.

Here is a closer look of the screen print. Isn’t it beautiful?!

I cut the key out from the stencil package to use as a die cut for my layout. I added some wax to a little copper heart charm I had in my stash then stamped the xoxo onto paper to add to the charm.

What do you think? I hope my sister likes this as much as I do. A lot of love went into this layout. Here is the layout framed. I had to take the metal ball off of the butterfly because it was too bulky. Next time, I need a deeper shadow frame…

Welcome to the November Bad Girls DT Challenge!!

Welcome! What do you think about the November Kit?! Have you had the chance to play with the gesso and wax? If you have not, let us inspire you to put that kit to good use! The gesso is very easy to work with; we like how smooth it goes on to just about any surface! And it’s so versatile. Try mixing gesso and paint together to create a fun medium to use with stencils! The wax can be used on just about any surface to create a nice, shiny, look to frames, chipboard, wood and metal trinkets.

Take a look at what they created. We are so inspired with their creativity! We just love how everyone thought outside of the box to create such beautiful projects. If these aren’t inspiring enough, we aren’t sure what is?!

Fabric Mini Book

Happy Monday! I’ve been anxiously waiting to share this little mini album with you! I just love the October Bad Girls Couture Kit. Have you checked out their kits? They are fabulous! I was inspired by these colors and the kit has a few of these colors in a deeper hue. I added a touch of gold to make these colors pop!

Pinterest Inspiration

I used the packaging from the 7gypsies tins as inserts for the mini book. This mini album is 3″x3″. I love making this size mini because it’s super easy and it works great for those of you who can’t seem to throw your scraps out. Hey, I am not picking on you… I am the same way!

I used gesso to adhere the fabric to the packaging to use as theand back of the mini book. I cut several pieces of patterns from the Prima Paper to use as inserts and photo mats for the mini.

Once the gesso was somewhat dry, I used scissors to cut the excess fabric from the edges.

And because I am always looking for ways to save trees and recycle… I cut the little words from the packaging to use as embellishments for the mini album.

I used my Bind-It-All to bind the pages together. I can’t remember the last time I used it. I finally dusted it off and put it to good use.

I used a little piece of transparency… sparingly. I am hording the rest.

The photos are all 2″x2″ (maybe a little smaller).

And here is the cover. Nothing too fancy… I wanted to keep it simple!

Remember, the next time you are about to throw those scraps away… you can maybe make a little mini book instead! They make great gifts.

Inspire Me: Paint Color Palette

Hello, Bad Girls!

It’s Rae with you today, sharing a layout I made with the October kit, inspired by a paint color palette that I found on Pinterest. I confess: I am a Pinterest Junkie! I use Pinterest every day- I have thousands of pins including recipes, craft projects, beautiful backyards, dream homes, and paint color palettes! I pin so many of these color palettes- some of them are definitely combinations I want in my house, and others I save just for scrapbooking inspiration. This one is so beautiful, I couldn’t wait to use it:

And, I saw all of these colors in the October kit, so I decided to use it for inspiration for this layout of my littlest man, all dressed up on Kindergarten Graduation Day. I edited the picture to coordinate with the color palette, as that shirt was quite a bright teal.

I printed out a small, wallet sized picture for this layout, so to make sure it was still the focal point, I cut down the blue Websters Pages blue paper, distressed it, and glue it to the Melissa Frances ledger paper. The blue and ephemera/script style paper was a prominent theme in the kit, so I was able to repeat those layers in my paper cluster.

I added some of the 7 Gypsies Architextures stickers (the wood, tin tiles, and the door) to my layers for added interest and dimension as well, mixing in some of the blue and brown/grey tones from the color palette.

I also added in some greys and silver tones by adding the frame that I fussy cut from the 7 Gypsies paper, and a metal heart from my stash on the little tag.

I added the title with some alphas from my stash, that are actually a greenish grey that are from the same line/ collection as the Websters Pages paper I used.

I also made the clock using the Prima Marketing paper clay that was in the kit, and a mould that I already has. I painted it with the ivory Tattered Angels High Impact paint, and then used some silver metallic wax to accent the groove for definition.

I also die cut some leaves from the Websters pages ledger paper, and colored them blue and distressed them.

Inspire Me Monday…….Vintage Glam Gift Box

Hello Bad Girls,

Michelle Rossibell here today hoping to inspire you in many ways.

With the holidays near I have been thinking a lot about what holiday theme I will be doing this year for Christmas. I love me a good old glam Vintage Christmas, and thought I try my hand in making my own gift box with the look I have envisioned.

Here is my vintage gift box I created with my mould and paper clay from the October Kit.

 

I had a blast playing with the paper clay. It was super simple, and drying time was was very minimal.

Once the clay mould dried, using the multi purpose High Impact Paint, I covered the whole mould with the paint. Using my 3D gel I attached to a lid of a black kraft box. I then proceeded to paint the rest of the gift box all around.

Once the paint has dried I used my Glitter Glam Paint to add the vintage glam I wanted to achieve.

Here is a close up of the sides of the box, and I love how the paint dried to give it texture.

Once I allowed the whole project to dry, I felt like I was missing something so off to my ribbon stash I went and found the perfect vintage ribbon.

Inspired By the Obvious with Michelle

We all know inspiration can come from anywhere and everywhere!  But sometimes we overlook the obvious.  Sometimes we get our kits or our new scrapbook supplies and we just get so excited by how pretty they are we immediately just try to “match” them to our pictures without really taking a good look and getting inspired by them.  This month when I got my kit I saw that 7 Gypsies paper with the big graphic numbers on it and was inspired to use them as big bold title pieces.  I knew I had just taken the boys back to school pics and they would be perfect to use for that.

So basically the entire page was inspired by those big graphic letters!  I built the whole page around them.  I love how the bold graphic of the letters were still simplistic enough to allow the photos on my multi photo layout shine, which was important to this layout.  And they really do pop on that robbins egg blue card stock that I adore!  All all it really took was cutting the letters out of the paper, inking them up and stapling them on, yes I stapled in my scrapbook…I told you i’m a rule breaker!  LOL!  I added some ribbon to give some texture and I love the effect that added.

So I hope this has inspired you to look more closely at your papers and supplies and truly get inspired by them and get to cutting!

Dripping watercolor paints onto cardstock

Hello everybody! I am soooo excited to share my first project using Bad Girls Couture’s gorgeous September kit  I am loving the gold puffy stickers, Prima flowers and Twinkling H20’s. So naturally, for my first layout, I decided to play with all of the above. For this layout, I used this image from Pinterest as my inspiration. I really like how the paint drips down the image…

Pinterest Inspiration

Before I started dripping the watercolor paints down the page, I covered a piece of White cardstock in white gesso and let it dry over night. Once the gesso was completely dry, I added lots of water at the top of my Twinkling H20’s (Playful Peony, Sea Spray, Ancient Coin) and let them sit for 15 minutes so that the water soaked into the paints. Once the water set into the paints, I gently mixed the paints using a small paintbrush then I poured the paint down the page using each color. Then I started the process all over again so that I created several watercolor lines down the page.

I hand-cut the frame from the Prima coloring paper and painted it using the Ancient Coin and Sea Spray Twinkling H2O’s then cut it in half to use at the top of the layout. Since this is a 8 1/2×11″ the frame as a whole would have taken up the entire layout so I decided to cut it in half.

I printed two small photos to add to the frame and hand-cut the “Date Night” sentiment from the Crate Paper and tucked it behind the photo. Then I added the adorable metal clip with the hearts, the flower and puffy sticker! I love the vintage appeal of this layout. It’s so very pretty with the brown and blue with the touch of gold.

I stapled a piece of ribbon from this month’s add-ons at the bottom of the layout to create a fun border for the layout. I used a gluedot in the middle of the ribbon to keep it In place.

Here is the final layout. Seriously, this was such an easy layout to create once the gesso and paint dried. When dripping the paint down the page, down worry if it looks messy! That’s part of the charm!
