Oh Snap Scrapbook Layout | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls! Donna here back with a new project. I made a scrapbook layout for you today using some Haute Mess Mixed Media products.

I started with white cardstock as a background. I dry brushed the acrylic paints (Kiss & Don’t Tell, Drama Queen, Sweet Candy Kisses) and then splatted with diluted Bad & Tatted.

I did a lot of fussy cutting too from different papers in my CK Full Bloom April kit. I love the mixture of colors with a pop of black. The paints matched perfectly with the palette from the papers and embellishments I used.

I prepared a process video for you all and you can watch it by clicking HERE or the video below.

I hope you liked my project today.

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy crafting,

‘Don’t be Afraid to Edit’ Art Journal Page

Hello!

It’s Lisa here today to share an Art Journal Page with you.

I have started with a pink canvas page from my Park Ave Penthouse Journal.
I have given it a coat of ‘Clear Gesso’
then used ‘Molding Paste’ to stencil some patterns that I liked.

I have then adhered some gauze & tissue paper with my ‘Matte Gel’ Medium,
and then ‘Glass Bead Gel’ to add some texture.

I have then added some colour, using ‘Fallen Angel’, ‘Distortion’, ‘Broken Doll’,
‘C-Note’ and ‘Bad & Tatted’.
A little bit of stamping

I have added some tags, stapled on.
Some elements from my papers, Word Stickers and chipboard pieces.

Loving the stitching on this page!

I hope you like what I have created.
I will be back soon with some more to share with you!

Lisa

Greetings Bad Girlies!

Hey, all you Bad Girls! This is Dale Ann, back on the blog again, with another project to inspire you!  My task today was to create a unique project using my Haute Mess Paints and Haute Mess Mediums! I made a mess for sure, but I loved every minute of it!  Are you ready to see what I created? Not only will you see some detailed photos of my piece, but I’ve also created a video to show you the step by step process. You will find the video at the end of my post.

Something Different

Here at Bad Girls Couture we are all about repurposing and recycling, and since I wanted this project to be different than anything I’ve done yet, I’m using something I found in the trash at work.   I don’t know what you would call this thing, but it was used for presentations.  I think it’s flip chart, but it’s got it’s own easel attached that wraps around it like a cover, and it’s about a 14×14 square.  The pages are kind of slick, but I think it will make a fun portfolio style art journal.

A Little Bit of Everything

I used all kinds of fun stuff on this project!  There are several different colors of the Haute Mess acrylic paints used here. I even used two colors to create a new color!  I wanted a warmer, more mustardy yellow, so I combined Caution Tape yellow with some Dive Bar, which is kind of a beige color.  The Haute Mess paints are so creamy they blend together effortlessly!  I pulled out all my mediums for this one, and you can see that these mediums all work very well with each other!

 ,

There are a couple of my favorite stencils used here, as well as bubble wrap, which I love to use as a stamp!  And of course I had to use some of my Dylusions Shimmer Mist and my Tim Holtz Distressing Ink in Peacock Feathers!  You will see some doodles made with a Posca white paint pen and a good old ballpoint pen!  My sentiment was created from my collection of Illustrated Faith Wordfetti.  That’s enough jibber jabber, let’s get to some art!

Close Up Photos

I love how you can see layer upon layer of paint!

I used the Molding Paste with my bird stencil to create this lovely bird!

Isn’t that texture yummy?? Gesso plus Glass Bead gel makes amazing texture!

Broken Hearted Mixed Media Journal Page

Happy Sunday y’all!  I hope you have had a wonderful weekend so far!  This week when I sat down to create in my journal I didn’t have a real idea of what I was creating I just was creating.  I knew I wanted to create something with lots of color and saturation and I wanted to make some scratch marks into my wet molding paste.  Other than that I didn’t know what the page would look like or even a theme.

I knew I would be getting my paints and mediums pretty wet so I removed the page from my Haute Mess journal.  It’s awesome to have the freedom to be able to remove a page when you need to if you want to work on something outside of the journal for a bit more elbow room and know you will be able to easily place it back in the journal when you have completed the page.

So I got to work applying my Molding Paste with a pallet knife to 3/4 of the page and allowed it to dry a bit (you can use a heat gun to speed this up)…but you don’t want it to fully dry yet.  Then I took my pallet knife and scratched a series of marks into the semi dried Molding Paste.

One the molding paste is completely dry I brushed a few strokes of “Torrid” Haute Mess paint (it really didn’t take a whole lot because the saturation is amazing!)

I immediately brushed over the “Torrid” paint with a water brush to make more of a saturated wash over the entire area that has been covered with molding paste.

Next I dropped a few drops of gold metallic on top, making sure the area stays wet so the ink kind of floats around a bit.  If needed drop a few drips of water near the gold ink to help with the flow effect.  Use a heat gun to help dry it blend the colors well.

It became very apparent to me as I was working my page was looking like a wounded heart.  I immediately knew where this page was going from here.  I love how when you are working in your art journal a page will organically just transform and begin become something that is so apparent.

Needless to say a wounded heart needs to be healed & bound up, so that is exactly the direction I took with this.  I applied a large scrap of cheese cloth by brushing on a thick coat of Matte Gel to my journal page, laid the cheese cloth down and then brushed on more Matte Gel to secure it.

Lastly I added my title with a scrap of  self adhesive tape I had in my art journal scrap stash and some cool safety pins

Now ya’ll go get some texture in your art today and show us!

Love is In the Air – Custom Cover for My Paper Doll Palace Art Journal!

Hey all you Bad Girls!  This is Dale Ann here with you, with a Bringing Sexy Back Sunday!  My post today is proof that love is in the air! With Valentine’s Day coming up this week, I was inspired to create this romantic, dreamy custom cover for my Paper Doll Palace art journal, from the Haute Couture Collection!

This beautiful art journal comes with a beautiful pink canvas cover already, which made it the perfect base to create a masterpiece on!  You have to hold this journal in your hot little hands to get just how luxurious it is!  For my cover I decided to go with my favorite colors from the Haute Mess Paint collection and the fantastic texture building mediums also included in this collection!

I started building my layers with paint and molding paste scraped through a stencil . . .

Just look at that crazy texture!  Be sure to let that layer dry really well, and that texture will stay raised and awesome!  I painted over all the raised texture with some Couture Pink! Next, I made some paper cutouts using my Cricut Air Explore machine.  I painted these pieces with some of my favorite colors . . . Fallen Angel, Plastic Angel, Naked, Broken Doll, Last Sin and Mannequin. These paints are so creamy and dreamy, y’all!

I started layering the pieces on the canvas, adhering with the Matte Gel medium.  I also applied more Molding Paste and some Glass Bead Gel medium, as well as some Deco Art crackle medium.

I layered on leaves, butterflies and a swirly frame.  I also added some glitter, then flicked some Bad & Tatted paint (watered down a little) all over for some contrast.

Next, I adhered a cutout of the word “love,” and a tiny flower I made from some rolled scrapbook paper.

It all came together in soft and sweet muted colors, a little sparkle and a whole lot of love!

I hope you enjoyed following along with me, and I hope I’ve inspired you to create all the crafty love projects this week for your special loved ones!  Be sure to follow me on Instagram at @lovingoutloud_ministry to keep up with all my crafting!

Til’ next time, Dale Ann

Hello there my lovely creative friends! Elena here! Today I am super happy to show you a new project that I have made with the incredible products by Bad Girls Couture. I decided
to decorate the cover of my Haute Mess Art Journal, which will be available very soon! I also prepared a video tutorial so you can see the process. I hope you feel inspired to make your own special project! Please look here to see the process: https://youtu.be/zksG4_ctFrg

This is the “COBBLESTONE LANE” Art Journal. It has a Cream colored canvas cover. I decorated the cover with mixed media in blue and pink colors. They are my favorite colors! I put two old brushes on the cover. They are a symbol of the creative process. I also added a tag inscribed with “Special”. I am sure in this art journal there will only be Special projects! One of the decorations on the cover is from 2Crafty chipboard. I covered it with Haute Mess Paints by Bad Girls Couture.

Splatters, Rips, and Flair, Oh My!

Hello, friends!

Today I’m sharing a grungy layout I made using the January scrapbook kit with the FABULOUS 7 Dots Paint Chips papers! My style is usually shabby chic-like, but I have two boys, so it’s fun to do some grunge-type layouts, and this kit was perfect for that!

I started out by adding some circle stenciling with distress ink, and also some faux stitching to the edge of the base layer. This is easy to do- if you have one of those sewing wheels, you can just run along the paper, and then pierce the holes with a needle, then trace it with a marker. I also ripped the paper and used some black cardstock in between those layers for added dimension.

I cut some circles from the blue/green paper, then stamped each of them using a stitched circle stamp with embossing medium, and added black embossing powder. I added flair to 3 of the four circles.

On the bottom circle, I added some stars, and some numbers from my stash, which is the title of the layout (15, because this pic was taken on my son’s 15th birthday).

I inked the paint splatters chipboard with black archival ink, and added the layout. I also added some  word stickers.

Lastly, I added many splatters over the entire layout, except for the photo. I added both black and white India ink from my stash, and some of the blue Tattered Angels Glitter Glam.

Thanks for checking out my project, and go to the shoppes and pick up a kit, if you aren’t already a subscriber!

Live Inspired

Hi everybody! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. Today I am back with another layout I created using the January kit. For this layout, I decided to play with my stencils, mists, acrylic paint and thread to create a fun layout! I just love the vibe here!! Such a fun layout! There’s so many little details I love about this layout. Let me share them with you.

I used the triangle stencil from the December kit to create multiple triangles. Once the paint was dry, I splashed some teal mist to add more color. Then I hand stitched little plus signs randomly throughout the layout. I matted the base of the layout onto teal cardstock to help frame the layout. I had a tag in my stash that I used to frame my photo that is approximately 2″x2″. I love this photo of me with my little man.

I grabbed some buttons from my stash to embellish my layout. I don’t know what it is about me and buttons this month… I went a little crazy with them… I’ve had them in a jar on my desk for awhile now, untouched until this month.

I added a few buttons at the bottom of the layout and on the tag. I love how pretty the word stickers look on this layout. The stitched plus signs really adds so much charm to this layout. I just felt like the triangles were missing something… and then I thought of the plus signs, thinking about Edward PLUS me… and it totally worked.

I layered two buttons and tied them together to create a fun, unique embellishment for the tag.

Here is a closer look at the triangles, misting and stitching!

What do you think? Is there anything in your stash that you have not touched in awhile? Why not pull them out and think of a creative way to use them with your kit!

Thank you for visiting today!

It’s Your Day

Ok ya’ll, I don’t know if I broke any rules here but I was certainly bring my sexy back with this little mini gift box!  I have been so inspired with these 7 Dots papers that I have just been creating my little heart out!

So here is another project I made with the January kit.

It’s a mini gift box!!  I used a Sizzix die to create the cut out of the box and after folding it all up I gave it a good inking along the edges with my brown stamp pad.

Next is the really fun part!  I took one of the layers of a silk flower that was in the kit and coated it with a generous coating of Bad Girls gesso.

Once that was dry I gave the center of the petals a good swipe of the Tattered Angels turquoise paint and then adhered some glitter to the edges and center with more gesso.  I cut out more flowers out of the 7 Dots papers.

Finally I made a sweet little tag with a scrap of the Daisy D’s paper and added one of the Um Wow flair buttons and tied it to the box with a scrap of the vintage French fabric.

It was a fast and fun project!
