Time to remix and repurpose! This is always a fun challenge for me, I love turning something intended for one thing or even intended for trash, into something wonderful and new! Today I’m gonna share a fun flip frame with you that I created with the large resin Prima frame.
From the moment I got the kit I tinkered with this flip frame idea, I think the frames were my favorite part of the kit. But in order to make it a proper functioning frame, it needed something to adhere it to and stand it up. Once again I turned to my handy dandy scrap wood pile (have you guys started a scrap pile yet LOL). I found this great old pallet board that was already nice and weathered and cut down to the perfect size and even had two holes at the top where the nails were.
I used those holes to pass a small piece of the lace from the kit and make a sweet little knot. It needed a little embellishing and being that I’m a jewelry maker at heart I used those pearls in the kit to make some faux mini hat pins with some jewelry headpins from my jewelry stash (you can grab these on any hobby isle). I just threaded them on and secured them with a little bead of hot glue.
Next I lined up where I wanted my frame and glued it in place. I went to my junk drawer and gathered a couple of brass cup hooks (you can get these at the hardware store or the hardware isle) and just screwed them into the soft wood. This is perfect for flip pages. All that was left was the pages.
Just holding the paper up to the frame I measured how big the pages needed to be and made a template with where the holes needed to be. Lining it all up was the hardest part but once my template was done I just punched all the holes at once with my crop a dile punch. I did use a pair of pliers and slightly bend the hooks almost closed so the pages won’t easily come off completely. For a finishing touch I rubbed a bit of the Prima silver metallique wax over the entire frame to add a bit more silver.
It was really an easy and fun project that you could use for lot of different uses, photos, a mini calendar, birthdays, quotes, scriptures, you name it!
