SOOOO Excited to share this with y’all!! Today we are breaking rules and getting crazy! And on this layout I had to do a two page spread, I know, kicking’ old school! LOL But lets be real, we need to be working on double page spreads for out books with multiple pictures because we take tons of pictures. And for me, I have two boys that are both artsy and the theme of this page includes them both but I wanted them to each have their own dedicated space and feel for the page so I did a double page spread.
I used lots of my favorite Hambly that Wendy included in the kit (THANK YOU WENDY!!) and paired with with the Melissa Francis and 7 Gypsies papers. Since Zane’s drawing was very architectural and almost blueprintish and I printed it with a little bit of a sepia filter it really set the tone. But I needed a title and I wanted something bold and big but not too bright to distract too much from the large picture of the drawing. So I wen to last month’s kit and pulled out the big chipboard letters and just rubbed some gesso over them with my finger to give them a white washed weathered look and added some letter stickers from my stash for a little pop of color. I also smeared some of that gesso and some aqua paint randomly over the page for some color and interest before attaching some Hambly overlay bits I was carefully rationing! LOL!
For the facing page I pretty much did the same thing, layered the papers, smeared the gesso and teal paint and layered the Hambly overlay piece before placing the pictures in an interesting cluster. Then added my title in a variety of different alpha stickers for additional interest. I really felt like I was free to just have fun on this layout. The letters I used for “Raising” were letters from the hardware store that I loved. And the teal letters are letters I use in my bible journaling so I just pulled from everywhere. Lastly, you guessed it, I just inked everything and stapled the last of my Hambly scraps
So go grab some unconventional supplies or do some techniques you have been scared to try and break some rules!
