Red, White and Blue Journal Page with Jen Matott

Hi, artsy friends!  I’m back with a Haute Mess Art journal canvas page  project and video.  I was inspired by our Independence Day celebrations.  The 4th of July holds special meaning for us here in the United States.  We celebrate our forefathers and the freedoms we hold dear.  As we continue to strive to be better and a country, we remember all those that fought in order to give us the freedoms we have.  It’s a patriotic holiday with lots of traditions that we share with family and friends.  So, I made a page that reflects our flag’s colors and feeling of unity.

In my tutorial video, you will see that I start by adding some Haute Mess Mixed Media White Gesso to the page.  I added the letter stencil over that using and sponge to dab Haute Mess Mixed Media Acrylic Paint in Bad Girl GaudyFallen Angel, and Make it Rain through it.  It created a sort of Ombre effect with the 3 colors.   I did the same with each color on a canvas banner piece.

I mixed the Haute Mess Mixed Media Molding Paste with Bad and Tatted Acrylic color. I put that through a stars stencil.   Once dry, I embellished the page with metal pieces, found objects and twine.

If you live in the USA, Happy Independence Day!
