Do All Things With Love – Art Journal Tutorial | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies. Donna here with a new project to share. I added another altered page to my PaperDoll Palace  Canvas Art Journal and I hope you like it.

I created a shabby chic altered journal page with a beautifully textured background. I first brushed some Gesso over the surface before I added texture using a stencil and the Haute Mess Molding Paste. Once dried, I brushed Drop dead gorgeous and Couture Pink over.

Using another brush, I diluted Grunge with a bit of water and splattered over. I wiped off a little bit of the excess.

After everything has dried, I started embellishing with papers, die cuts, flourishes etc from the Ladylike collection from Kaisercraft.

Here is the process video I prepared for you to watch. I hope you like my art journal page as much as I do.

Thanks for dropping by and see you in my next post!

Crafty Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies! It’s Donna here back with a new project to share. I made a scrapbook layout with a simple mixed media background using some Haute Mess acrylic paints and molding paste.

To create the mixed media background, I simply splatter watered-down First Crush, X-rated and Drop Dead Gorgeous acrylic paints. Then I used a stencil to add texture with molding paste.

The theme of my layout is about my love of scrapbooking. So I printed some recent layouts from the various companies and clubs I design/create for. I used a paper twine to hang the photos.

Used stickers and die cuts to embellish the layout mounted with some foam tape for dimension.

Totally love how this turned out. The Crafternoon collection from Kaisercraft is so perfect to what I had in mind for my project today.

That’s all for today and I hope you liked my scrapbook layout idea and it inspired you to be creative today as well.

Happy crafting,

Stay Golden Mixed Media Card | Donna Espiritu

Hello all, Donna here with a new project to share using some Bad Girls Couture products.

I made a simple card for my post today that I hope will inspire you.

The first thing I did was run a piece of plain cardstock through a die cutting machine to create a textured background. Then I used X-rated, Couture Pink, Kiss & Don’t Tell, Sweet Candy Kisses and Hippie in High Heels acrylic paints to add colors.

After the paints dried, I spread a thin layer of Gladd Bead Gel

Then I decorated with some Truly Grateful from Pink Paislee by Paige Evans goodies and some wash strips from Jane Davenport.  I also dabbed a few Nuvo Jewel Drops for the finishing touch.

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you in my next post.

Happy crafting,

Journey.. Born To Roam | Art Journal Page

Hello, Bad Girlies… It’s Donna here with a new art journal page to share. I altered one of the pages in my PaperDoll Palace Pink Canvas Art Journal.

Since it’s Repurpose Thursday, I added this corrugated cardboard from one of my daughter’s toy boxes. I always have one in my stash, mostly used in replacement of foam tapes. For my art journal, it added texture to the background instead.

I painted the surface first with Naked. Once dried, I followed it up with Dive Bar. Then dry brushed with a bit of Make It Rain and X-rated. I splattered some watered down Naked too.

After all the paint has dried, I started decorating it with stickers & ephemera pieces from the Kaisercraft Journey collection. I used foam tape and regular adhesive to place everything, it’s pretty easy and straightforward. I also added some messy thread as well.

I hope this inspired you to be creative today. See you in my next post!

Thanks for dropping by and happy crafting!

It’s The Little Things | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies. Donna here with a new Art Journal inspiration.

It’s a really simple and easy one to make and you re-create it yourself in a few steps.

I dry brushed strips of Bad & Tatted onto the background.

Then I used a stencil and added texture spreading molding paste using a spatula. I made this into a heart shape.

I watered down Caution Tape and splattered some once the molding paste has dried.

It’s time for decorating! I cut a heart shape from a piece of paper and adhered to the center of the heart-shaped textured surface. Then I mixed stickers and cut-apart to embellish the page.

The embellishing is simply basic I just decorated the heart shape in the middle. Super easy, right?
Something you can easily re-create with a couple of Bad Girls Couture Acrylic paints and mediums.

I hope this inspired you to create something today!
Thanks for dropping by and see you in my next post.

Brave and Beautiful Art Journal | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies! Donna here with a new project in my Haute Mess PaperDoll Palace Pink Canvas Art Journal.

First thing I did was brush the surface with gesso and then Fallen Angel diluted with a bit of water. I just wanted to cover the entire surface. Then I added a thin layer of Naked. Using a stencil and molding paste, I added more texture to random areas.

I wanted to try something new for today’s project. I’ve never done this kind of thing before and I know I need more practice. Ha! Instead of drawing directly to the background, I’ve drawn a face on to a piece of paper first and then cut it with my scissors. I adhered it to with gesso and a bit of clear glue.

I painted the face with Naked first and then Mannequin. Then I used Plastic Angel to paint the blushing cheeks and Bad & Tatted for the hair.

I used Prima Marketing’s Enchanted paper pad to embellish the page. I cut some squares/rectangles, doodled around the edges with a black pen. I also fussy cut some flowers to further decorate the page.

I added some Poetic Rose ephemera and stickers for the simple title of “Brave and beautiful”. I also brushed some Glass Bead Gel as a finishing touch.

I definitely need more practice drawing faces… or something like that ha! I was so scared to mess up painting the face and now I think it needed more shading… hmmm I didn’t mean to make it look like an Asian face lol but that’s how it turned out.

That’s all from me today. I hope you liked my project!

Breath Serenity Tab Page | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies! Donna here with a new project. I used the Tab Page in my Haute Mess Art Journal in PaperDoll Palace Pink Canvas to create a mixed media page.

I wanted to create a page about peacefulness or serenity. And the Morning Dew collection from Kaisercraft complements the Kiss & Don’t Tell color from the Bad Girls Couture Haute Mess acrylic paint selection.

I used a palette knife to cover the surface first with Fallen Angel and then Kiss & Don’t Tell after.

I used the Glass Bead Gel medium to add more texture.

After everything has dried, I started embellishing/decorating the page.

Here is a process video you can watch how this mixed media page came out to be.
Enjoy watching and may this spark some creativity in you today!

Be Joyful Altered Tag | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls! It’s Donna here with my last project for this month and it’s a simple altered tag.

I used gesso first before adding some texture using a stencil and molding paste on the tag. After it has dried, I painted with First Crush, Kiss & Tell and Broken Doll acrylic paints.

Then I created a collage of torn papers, doily, messy thread and stickers to decorate the tag.

I brushed the Glass bead gel and inked the edges to finish off the tag.

Here is the process video I made so you can watch how I created this tag.

“Love” Altered Photo Frame | Donna Espiritu

Hello, again Bad Girlies! It’s Donna here with a new project. I recycled an old metallic neon green photo frame and turned it into something a bit shabby chic.

This is how the photo frame looked like before the makeover.

I painted the entire surface with gesso. After it has dried, I used Fallen Angel to paint over the surface with green color and used two coats to cover the entire thing white.

Then, I dry brushed Couture Pink, Broken Doll, and Kiss & Don’t Tell acrylic paints.

To add more texture to the frame, I used the Glass Bead Gel and brushed randomly all over the frame. I also added a white lace, using the Clear Gesso to adhere to the painted frame.

Once everything has dried, I started placing the photo and embellished a bit with fussy cut butterflies and some ephemera pieces from the With Love collection from Kaisercraft.

Here are detailed shots of the finished project…

That’s all from me today. I hope this inspired you to be creative with your Haute Mess paints and mediums! Thanks for dropping by and see you in my next post.

DIY Painted Bows | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies. Donna here with some super fun and simple DIY project using Haute Mess Acrylic Paints and Mediums.

One of the things I love to do in my spare time and of course add to my projects from time to time are DIY bows. I have “acquired” a lot of bow templates/cut files and added some more recently. For today’s post though, I used a template and manually cut these bows out of a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe that I have in my stash for a long time now. These two are my go-to templates when it comes to DIY bows.

I usually use patterned papers to make bows but for today, I thought why not use acrylic paints? The current Haute Mess paints color palette has some amazing choices. I sampled all the colors but only made 5 for my post today because while I was in the middle of tracing and cutting, I thought I’d use them for different ideas next time.

I added texture to one of the bigger bows by using a stencil and molding paste. I also used clear gesso after I painted the bows. Once dry, I used the handle of the brush to curl the bow so it has a bit of curve.

I used different types of things to accentuate the middle of the bows. I used a strip of paper (from my scrap stash), glittery and satin trims and a flat pearl.

I love how rich and vibrant the Haute Mess paints are!!! They spread like butter and it’s totally addicting.. therapeutic even, while painting a bunch of white cardstock strips (again, from my scrap stash).

Super pretty and simple fun DIY project, right? I will use these for DIY gift boxes, scrapbook layouts and as planner accessories! My daughter already called dibs on them lol!

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you on my next post!
