Make and Create with Lisa Amiet

Hello Bad Girls!
It’s Lisa here today to share some more inspiration with you.
I have an Art Journal page that I have created.

I have started with a plain card page from my
‘Park Ave Penthouse Journal’

I have first given it a coat of my ‘Haute Mess Clear Gesso’, to seal my page.

I then gave areas a rough coating of my
‘Haute Mess White Gesso’

I have then used my ‘Haute Mess Acrylic Paint – Make it Rain’,
mixed with some water to make it flow on my page.

Next, I have added some ‘Haute Mess Acrylic Paint – Last Sin’,
again mixed with water.

I have then used a stencil and my ‘Haute Mess Molding Paste’,
to add some dimension.

I have then used some stamps and word stickers to add more depth and dimension to my page.

I really love those blue tones!
I hope you like it too.

Until next time!
Lisa

DIY Painted Bows | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies. Donna here with some super fun and simple DIY project using Haute Mess Acrylic Paints and Mediums.

One of the things I love to do in my spare time and of course add to my projects from time to time are DIY bows. I have “acquired” a lot of bow templates/cut files and added some more recently. For today’s post though, I used a template and manually cut these bows out of a cutting file from The Cutting Cafe that I have in my stash for a long time now. These two are my go-to templates when it comes to DIY bows.

I usually use patterned papers to make bows but for today, I thought why not use acrylic paints? The current Haute Mess paints color palette has some amazing choices. I sampled all the colors but only made 5 for my post today because while I was in the middle of tracing and cutting, I thought I’d use them for different ideas next time.

I added texture to one of the bigger bows by using a stencil and molding paste. I also used clear gesso after I painted the bows. Once dry, I used the handle of the brush to curl the bow so it has a bit of curve.

I used different types of things to accentuate the middle of the bows. I used a strip of paper (from my scrap stash), glittery and satin trims and a flat pearl.

I love how rich and vibrant the Haute Mess paints are!!! They spread like butter and it’s totally addicting.. therapeutic even, while painting a bunch of white cardstock strips (again, from my scrap stash).

Super pretty and simple fun DIY project, right? I will use these for DIY gift boxes, scrapbook layouts and as planner accessories! My daughter already called dibs on them lol!

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you on my next post!

Supplies Used:
Haute Mess Acrylic Paints: Drop Dead Gorgeous, Broken Doll, Sweet Candy Kisses, Bad Girl Gaudy

Haute Mess Mediums: Molding Paste, Clear Gesso

Hope Anchors The Soul Art Journal | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls. It’s Donna here today with a new project using Haute Mess products.

I created another page in my Palace Princess Art Journal and it was fun playing and experimenting with mediums and paints to add texture and interesting details.

I started with one of the pages in the Haute Mess Palace Princess Art Journal as my base or background. I applied clear gesso before adding texture with modeling paste and a stencil.

I based the acrylic paints colors on the Kaisercraft Antiquities collection I used. So I chose Caution Tape, Make It Rain and Bad & Tatted as main colors. The combination of yellow and bluish gray is beautiful.

I have a process video you can watch.

I hope you liked my project today! See you in my next post.

Thanks for dropping by and happy crafting!

“Grow” | Art Journal Page Tutorial

Hello everyone! It’s Donna here to share my latest project.

For my project today, I created a soft colored background to mimic the serenity of the theme I wanted to achieve.

This is the first time I used Mannequin and Plastic Angel and I fell in love! Paired with some blues and greens, the result was amazing.

I created texture by dry brushing the acrylic paints and using a stencil and modeling paste.

Watch the process video HERE.

*I apologize in advance as the first part of the video is too bright.*

I hope you liked today’s post! Thank you for dropping by and happy crafting!

‘Lost’ Art Journal Page by Lisa Amiet

Hello all!
It’s Lisa here today to share my latest Art Journal page,
from my Park Ave Penthouse Journal.

‘Lost’

For this page I have the used the pink canvas page from my journal.
I started by adding a rough coat of Haute Mess Gesso to random parts of the page.

I have then added some Clear Bead Gel to random parts of the page, for some added texture.
I then started adding some colour using the random method again. Then some more colour using some stencils.

I have then added some Haute Mess Molding Paste, again using stencils.

Some more colour, and some hand additions with pencils.

Lastly I have used some word stickers to tie it all together.
I hope you like what I have created.

Create From The He{Art} Art Journal Tutorial | Donna Espiritu

Hello, lovelies! Donna here back with a new project to inspire you today.

I decided to decorate my Art Journal cover and it was harder than I imagined. I wanted to incorporate stuff that I love most when creating. But I love a lot of *things* so I just trimmed down to my top 5:

*Color Pink

*Florals or flowers

*Butterflies

* Texture

*And a bit of dimension

I started with an idea in mind but ended up with a totally different result afterward. You will see.

I applied clear gesso to the front cover of my Princess Palace Haute Mess Art Journal. Then dry brushed paints one after the other. I used Couture Pink, Broken Doll, Plastic Angel, Fallen Angel, and Mannequin. Then I used a stencil and modeling paste to add texture.

I also gathered some old stuff stored inside my box of crafty whatnots. I applied gesso before painting them with Fallen Angel, Couture Pink, and Sweet Candy Kisses.

At this point, I am still unsure of what to do with them. I have to be honest, I literally stared at them and stopped and then stared some more. I realized they’re kind monochromatic now that I arranged them as you see below. I stopped for a few days because nothing is coming to me. This is how I imagined it at first but then changed it halfway.

I also decided to add another layer of paint wash so I diluted Fallen Angel with water and brushed the surface for a subtle shade of pink.

I wanted to use “Create With Your Heart” and tried several ways to incorporate it. I tried to print, to write it, but I didn’t like how it looked. So I opted to use alpha stickers later on. I also thought of using a monogram letter as my focal point. I settled with the letter A for Art. I just printed this and used as a template. I adhered to a dark pink cardstock, backed with a patterned paper and mounted with foam tape for dimension.

I used Clique Kits’ February kit featuring Cocoa Vanilla’s Midnight collection. I especially love the ephemera pack especially the flowers and 6×8 papers. I love the combination of pink and blue-ish grey and of course, the flowers. I flickered some diluted Sweet Candy Kisses and Bad & Tattered as a final touch.

And here is how my Haute Mess Art Journal cover turned out

I wanted it to “look and feel” like my style and I think I achieved it, eventually. I’m really happy with the end result.

‘Fortune Teller Tags’ Art Journal Page + VIDEO

Hello Bad Girls!
It’s Lisa here today to share some inspiration with you all!

For this post I have worked on my ‘Tag Page’ from my Park Ave Penthouse Journal

This is how my page looks with the tags in their homes :)

And this is how my page looks with the tags pulled out.

I have gone for a ‘Fortune Teller’ theme for this page and I think it works really well.

I started by decorating my tags, first with papers and then some mixed media
with my Haute Mess Molding Paste.

I have then used my Haute Mess Acrylic Paints to add some of the natural browns to my tags.
I used “Dive Bar’ & ‘Distortion’ to achieve this.
I have then added some splashes of mists and some watered down ‘Bad & Tatted’ Acrylic Paint.

I have then decorated the page itself, using the same style.

I have then added some lace in matching colours to my papers.

I am so happy with how it turned out.
I’m trying to give myself the advice that in order to have good things happen,
you sometimes need to take risks.

I hope you like what I have created.
You can watch the process video to see how it all came together in the VIDEO below

Colorful Journal Page

I’m going to show you a page from the new journals today!  I needed more color in my life… it’s grey and snowy here in New York and I’m feeling a bit blah.  I love color!  It brightens even the dullest day!  So, for this page, I’m using a TON of acrylic color as a background.  I have a video to share with you on how I apply the Haute Mess acrylics and mediums here. Check it out!

https://youtu.be/ML-oKrOhbpY

This is my finished journal page.  I used a cardstock, stitched page from the new Bad Girls Couture Journal.   I love anything rainbow colored (I am an art teacher after all…)!  Starting with the following colors to create a background, brush a swipe of each across the page.

Haute Mess acrylic paints (from top of page to bottom):

Torrid

Bad Girl Gaudy

Sweet Candy Kisses

Guilt Trip

Oop!  My Bad

First Crush

Caution Tape

X-rated

Drama Queen

Million Dollar Baby

Kiss & Don’t Tell

Drop Dead Gorgeous

Make it Rain

Bye Felicia

Hippie in High Heels

Whew!!  That’s a lot of colors!  It makes a beautiful, rainbow background… sure to brighten any day!

I wanted lots of interesting fonts for the quote on this page.  I scoured my stash of stamps, letter stickers, and Thickers to create this fun quote.   My thought was to make it as artsy as possible.  I love this quote ” When we stop fearing failure, we start being artists”.  It is true.  Failures are chances to learn in art and learning helps us grow as artists.  Having fear of failure, stunts our growth because you will be afraid to start anything.  Materials can be pricey but if you just buy materials to look at them and not use them, well, are you really being an artist? or a collector?  Get that stuff out and play!!!  Haute Mess paints are so much fun to play with and I intend to use them right up!!!

I love the little containers that the Haute Mess containers come in and each one has a bit of twine with a tag painted in the color that the container has inside so you can see what it looks like dry.  It also has a beautiful metal key attached!  I took these off the container (I know… gasp!) and knew I wanted to use them on this page!  I tied them all together and make a little banner of sorts. It makes me super happy to see them all there!

I hope you enjoyed my journal page tutorial and are inspired to add a little color into your life (whatever season it is for you)!

Field Journal with Haute Mess Matte Gel Medium Tips & Tricks + VIDEO

Hello all!
It’s Lisa here today to share my latest page in my gorgeous
Park Ave Penthouse Journal
‘Field Journal’

I also have some tips and tricks on different ways to use Matte Gel Medium.
I love my matte gel! The first and main way that I use this medium is mixed with my Haute Mess Acrylic Paints.
The Matte Gel Medium adds texture to your dried acrylic paints.

It doesn’t really change the consistency to your paint
but you are able to leave texture with brushes or palette knives.

When you first mix it, it may lighten your paint colour, as the gel is white,
but don’t fear this is temporary as it dries clear and your colour is the same.

For this page I have started with a coat of Haute Mess Clear Gesso.

I have built up my paint layers using Matte Gel Medium mixed with Haute Mess Acrylic Paints in natural colours.

I have also used the Molding Paste to stencil in some fern leaves.

The second way that I have used my Matte Gel Medium,
was to adhere my vintage sewing pattern pieces to my page.
It dries matte and clear and allow my to build up some texture.

You can watch the full process video for this page below
