Stay Golden Mixed Media Card | Donna Espiritu

Hello all, Donna here with a new project to share using some Bad Girls Couture products.

I made a simple card for my post today that I hope will inspire you.

The first thing I did was run a piece of plain cardstock through a die cutting machine to create a textured background. Then I used X-rated, Couture Pink, Kiss & Don’t Tell, Sweet Candy Kisses and Hippie in High Heels acrylic paints to add colors.

After the paints dried, I spread a thin layer of Gladd Bead Gel

Then I decorated with some Truly Grateful from Pink Paislee by Paige Evans goodies and some wash strips from Jane Davenport.  I also dabbed a few Nuvo Jewel Drops for the finishing touch.

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you in my next post.

Happy crafting,

Lucky is a State of Mind

Ok, Ok, so this isn’t a real repurpose…but I had an idea and I rolled with it so bear with me!  LOL!

This page is done with Tim Holtz photos and paper dolls but it could totally be done with repurposed old photos!  So there is my repurpose!  See…I redeemed myself!  LOL!   Anyway, let me fill you in on my thought process behind this page and how I made it happen.

I’ve had a lot on my mind lately and with the balance of life and juggling different hats so when I came across this phrase “lucky is a state of mind” I had the perfect idea for it.  I decided what if I showed my state of mind and what’s on it.  What if I could hedge back my little head and show you all that things bouncing around in it.

I started by diluting some “hippie in high heals” Haute Mess acrylic paint and making an abstract poof like shape on the black page of Cobble Stone Lane journal.  While it was still some what wet I added some “make it rain” acrylic paint and continued to dab it with water to blend it a bit.  Then I blended in a bit of diluted “Torrid” acrylic paint just at the lower left corner of the poof and made some shading.

As it dried I added some Haute Mess glass bead gel to random areas then dripped some Haute Mess “naked” acrylic paint in as well as a bit of gold metallic from my stash.  Next I took a plastic gift card and dipped it in a bit of “bad and tatted” acrylic paint and sort of stamped it at different angles to form the design in the corner.  Finally, I  rubbed the raised glass bead areas with the same metallic gold I used earlier.

Lastly, I applied all my Tim Holtz photos and paper dolls (using pop dots) around the title sticker.

I hope this inspires you to get your paints out and get creative with some old (or reproduction) photos!

Journey.. Born To Roam | Art Journal Page

Hello, Bad Girlies… It’s Donna here with a new art journal page to share. I altered one of the pages in my PaperDoll Palace Pink Canvas Art Journal.

Since it’s Repurpose Thursday, I added this corrugated cardboard from one of my daughter’s toy boxes. I always have one in my stash, mostly used in replacement of foam tapes. For my art journal, it added texture to the background instead.

I painted the surface first with Naked. Once dried, I followed it up with Dive Bar. Then dry brushed with a bit of Make It Rain and X-rated. I splattered some watered down Naked too.

After all the paint has dried, I started decorating it with stickers & ephemera pieces from the Kaisercraft Journey collection. I used foam tape and regular adhesive to place everything, it’s pretty easy and straightforward. I also added some messy thread as well.

I hope this inspired you to be creative today. See you in my next post!

Thanks for dropping by and happy crafting!

Just As I Am

Happy weekend y’all!!  I hope you are having a wonderful one so far!  I’m going to be honest with you, when I sat down to work in my journal this week I was at a loss.  Creativity was not my friend and I just wasn’t feeling it.  I decided I was going to make a background and layer a few pieces and call it a day.  I had no really direction when I started.

Since I really enjoyed my sheet music page I did last week but didn’t have another page in my journal like that I grabbed a page from a vintage hymnal and brushed on some watered down “Fallen Angel” Haute Mess acrylic paint.

I then mixed some Haute Mess molding paste and mixed some “Kiss & Don’t Tell” acrylic paint and applied it over a stencil onto the page before removing the stencil to reveal the design.

Once the tinted molding paste was dried I applied a bit of “Grunge” Haute Mess” acrylic paint with a pallet knife.  I love that this paint is so nice and thick, it really lends itself to this type of application and still gave some great added texture.

Really loving the design at this point, I decided to add some diluted “Torrid” Haute Mess acrylic paint to give a watercolor effect to the center of the heart.  (this has become one of my favorite colors and favorite ways to apply it)

By this point I decided I was no longer just making a background.  I had found my design and realized I had just perfectly framed my title.  From there everything just totally made sense.  I inked up a distressed line rubber stamp with some “Bad & Tatted” Haute Mess acrylic paint and stamped it at the bottom of the page to give it an anchor point.

Then I added the butterfly diecut sticker and layered a Tim Holtz paper doll to reflect the them of the page.

Finally I added a metallic rub over the page to give it some shimmer.

It’s The Little Things | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies. Donna here with a new Art Journal inspiration.

It’s a really simple and easy one to make and you re-create it yourself in a few steps.

I dry brushed strips of Bad & Tatted onto the background.

Then I used a stencil and added texture spreading molding paste using a spatula. I made this into a heart shape.

I watered down Caution Tape and splattered some once the molding paste has dried.

It’s time for decorating! I cut a heart shape from a piece of paper and adhered to the center of the heart-shaped textured surface. Then I mixed stickers and cut-apart to embellish the page.

The embellishing is simply basic I just decorated the heart shape in the middle. Super easy, right?
Something you can easily re-create with a couple of Bad Girls Couture Acrylic paints and mediums.

I hope this inspired you to create something today!
Thanks for dropping by and see you in my next post.

Happy crafting,

Song Bird

Happy Monday y’all!!  I hope you are inspired today to create something beautiful!  I was inspired this week to create by this amazing sheet music page in my Haute Mess Cobblestone Lane Journal.

For this page I went to my scrap box and grabbed a few things to use that I thought would add interesting texture and layers and convey the feeling I was looking for.

My jumping off piece was this beautiful bird illustration and I just really went from there, gathering scraps of tissue paper and mesh that I liked.

I applied them down with some Haute Mess clear gesso and then secured the mesh down with some Haute Mess molding paste.  The background of the page also got a bit of a dry brushing of the “Naked” Haute Mess acrylic paint.  I added some extra texture and interest with some Haute Mess glass bead gel in some places and then gave the whole thing a light metallic rub.

The finishing touch was a sweet little die cut butterfly by Tim Holtz.

Brave and Beautiful Art Journal | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girlies! Donna here with a new project in my Haute Mess PaperDoll Palace Pink Canvas Art Journal.

First thing I did was brush the surface with gesso and then Fallen Angel diluted with a bit of water. I just wanted to cover the entire surface. Then I added a thin layer of Naked. Using a stencil and molding paste, I added more texture to random areas.

I wanted to try something new for today’s project. I’ve never done this kind of thing before and I know I need more practice. Ha! Instead of drawing directly to the background, I’ve drawn a face on to a piece of paper first and then cut it with my scissors. I adhered it to with gesso and a bit of clear glue.

I painted the face with Naked first and then Mannequin. Then I used Plastic Angel to paint the blushing cheeks and Bad & Tatted for the hair.

I used Prima Marketing’s Enchanted paper pad to embellish the page. I cut some squares/rectangles, doodled around the edges with a black pen. I also fussy cut some flowers to further decorate the page.

I added some Poetic Rose ephemera and stickers for the simple title of “Brave and beautiful”. I also brushed some Glass Bead Gel as a finishing touch.

I definitely need more practice drawing faces… or something like that ha! I was so scared to mess up painting the face and now I think it needed more shading… hmmm I didn’t mean to make it look like an Asian face lol but that’s how it turned out.

That’s all from me today. I hope you liked my project!

Thanks for dropping by and happy crafting,

Stronger Than Yesterday – Clear Canvas

Happy SundayFUNday!!  I hope ya’ll are having a fab weekend!  Today I’m showing y’all a fun way to do a “canvas” in an unexpected way.  A CLEAR canvas!

For this project I used small square of acrylic.  The acrylic is actually a clear insert for a welding face shield that I purchased at a welding supply center.  I’m sure my husband just loves when I tag along on his hardware adventures lol!

I started off with a rubber stamp that had some distressed lines on it and applied some “bad & tatted” Haute Mess acrylic paint then stamped it on to the acrylic.  You can mimic this look by using the side of an old gift card and dip it in a bit of the paint then stamp it on to the acrylic square and just repeat.

I also brushed a little of the same paint along the edges to give it an inked distressed look.

For the embellishments I made a clay key hole embellishment and painted it with a wash of diluted Haute Mess “hippie in high heals” then some diluted “torrid” and rubbed with a bit of “kiss & don’t tell” before apply a touch of the Haute Mess glass bead gel.  Finally I applied a rub of gold.  I did a similar effect on the key and paint brush as well.  The key has a base coat of “bad & tatted” then rubbed with “kiss & don’t tell” and the paint brush has a mix of all the colors i used in the project!

The tag had gold crackle on it previously but I wanted to incorporate it into this project so I applied some of the colors I was using to give it a warm background.  I diluted some “torrid” first and then applied some drips of diluted “hippie in high heals” and then rubbed with a smidge of “kiss & don’t tell”.

The whole project is finished off with a Tim Holts paper dolls die cut and a sticker sentiment.

I’m pretty obsessed with the transparency of it!  I want to do MOOORRREE of them!

Tea Anyone?

Today I’m ready to junque it up with a fun mini zine project!

I made this mini zine with discarded tea bags.  Yes you read that right.  I used old tea bags to make a little mini book out of!  Now you probably remember that I used a tea bag in a previous project when I was doing a journal page in my Haute Mess Mixed Media Journal.  This time I just thought how cute they would look all stacked and bound together as a little mini.  So my wheels got turning.

You can see from the pictures here that I stacked all the bags up and bound them together with some embroidery floss, but not before giving them each a good treatment with some Haute Mess Matte Gel.  After I let that dry I began assembling my mini.  I also added some funky Tim Holtz vintage photo strips and some word stickers.  You could embellish this in so many fun ways.

To tie it all together I used a couple of the tea bag tags (with the string still attached) and glued them to the inside covers.

This is the amazing Haute Mess paint colors that brought my beautiful clay embellishment to life.

And this is the wonderful Haute Mess Mediums that you just have to have handy when approaching a project like this.

Be Fearless with Lisa Amiet

Hello!
It’s Lisa here today to share some Bad Girl Goodness with you all.
I have an art journal page that I have created in my
‘Park Ave Penthouse’ Journal.

For this spread, I have used one of the cardboard backed canvas pages.
I have started with a nice coat of Haute Mess ‘White Gesso’ to seal my page.

I have then used my Haute Mess Acrylic Paints in ‘Torrid’,
‘Bad Girl Gaudy’ and ‘Sweet Candy Kisses’
,
to give my page a rough painted texture.

I have then used some of my stamps,
to randomly stamp around my page.

I have then added some floral elements in matching colours,
and a couple of quotes to finish my page.

I hope that you like what I have created!
Until next time!

Lisa xo
