Get Out of Your Head

Happy Weekend my artsy peeps!  Today I’m sharing sort of a SNAP OUT OF IT journal page!  LOL!

Y’all know y’all talk to yourselves in your journal too!  So I opened up my “Cobblestone Lane” Haute Mess Journal and just went after it!

I applied a layer of molding paste to one of the canvas pages in the journal and allowed it to dry well.  I also applied some molding paste though a brick stencil to give some heavy texture and anchor the bottom of the page.  I then applied a thin layer of white gesso to the paint would flow well on the page.

Next I put down a stencil and applied some watered down “Torrid” Haute Mess paint, cleaning up the edges with a baby wipe and again allowed to dry well.

Next I laid down another part of the same stencil and applied some “Kiss and Don’t Tell” Haute Mess paint with a baby wipe (by dabbing it lightly) to give another layer.

For yet another layer, I did the same dabbing with a baby wipe with another part of the same stencil using Haute Mess “Bad & Tatted” and a baby wipe.

Finally I added some stickers for a title and inked the entire page to show off all the wonderful texture.  I also took a sharpie and outlined parts of the stenciled numbers to make it pop a bit.

You can see the entire process in the process video below.

“Love” Altered Photo Frame | Donna Espiritu

Hello, again Bad Girlies! It’s Donna here with a new project. I recycled an old metallic neon green photo frame and turned it into something a bit shabby chic.

This is how the photo frame looked like before the makeover.

I painted the entire surface with gesso. After it has dried, I used Fallen Angel to paint over the surface with green color and used two coats to cover the entire thing white.

Then, I dry brushed Couture Pink, Broken Doll, and Kiss & Don’t Tell acrylic paints.

To add more texture to the frame, I used the Glass Bead Gel and brushed randomly all over the frame. I also added a white lace, using the Clear Gesso to adhere to the painted frame.

Once everything has dried, I started placing the photo and embellished a bit with fussy cut butterflies and some ephemera pieces from the With Love collection from Kaisercraft.

Here are detailed shots of the finished project…

That’s all from me today. I hope this inspired you to be creative with your Haute Mess paints and mediums! Thanks for dropping by and see you in my next post.

Happy crafting,

Maker’s Mind

Happy Monday y’all!  For today’s inspire me Monday, I’m working on my vintage comic book page in my Haute Mess Journal.

I had the idea to have it look as if it was exploding, exposing the inside of a toy maker’s mind.  So I got to work…splitting open the comic book paper, giving it a white wash and adding molding paste to the cardstock that was exposed under the comic book paper.

I then filled the center section with chipboard gears (these are from A Vintage Girl) that I added Haute Mess glass bead gel then painted and distressed with Haute Mess “Bad & Tatted”, “Distortion”, “C-Note” and “Kiss & Don’t” Tell paints.

I added Tim Holtz Paper Dolls and A Vintage Girl & Her Daughter Stickers for the title.

I also added some A Vintage Girl & Her Daughter Stickers to the bottom to carry the toy maker theme.

I then distressed the entire page with a black stamp pad.

You can see the entire process in this process video.  Check it out here!

Song of the Butterfly – Upcycled Tea Can

Hey y’all!  I’m punching up the color today and adding some fun to an upcycled project.  I couldn’t bear to throw away this sturdy little tea can sooooo…I dolled it all up with some Bad Girlieness!

I wanted to focus on showing ya’ll the Haute Mess Gel Medium.  I love how you can use it to apply delicate items like I did here with this vintage sheet music and then layered on some sweet vintage butterfly cut outs.

I also added a painted and distressed clay embellishment to the top of the can and really love how it finishes it off.

If you want to see the entire process and all the paint colors and mediums I used, check out my video below.

Thanks for stoping by today!

Create & Inspire Art Journal Page | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls! Donna here with a new art journal page using the Tag Page in the Haute Mess Art Journal as well as some acrylic paints and mediums.

I started with stamping the art journal page and tags then splattering some acrylic paints (Sweet Candy Kissed, X-rated and Kiss & Don’t Tell) to the page and tags. Then I decorated using cut apart pieces from the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad and stickers from Kaisercraft Scrap studio collection.  I used a stencil and the Haute Mess modeling paste as a last thought, to add more texture.

It’s a really easy and simple project and I love how this turned out. The colors and textures are pretty up close and in real life.

I hope you liked my post today and it inspired you to be creative!

Canvas Moon by Elena Martynova

Hello! Hello friends, Elena here with you today with my new inspiration!

I decided to decorate the canvas using photo of me and my daughter and  chipboard by 2Crafty

and excellent products by Bad Girls Couture.

For my project, I used wonderful sprays by Lindy’s  to create the background.

To make the surface more voluminous and textured, I applied the Haute Mess – Molding Paste through a stencil

I used a lot of different colors from Bad Girls Couture for coloring chipboard.

Mixed them together to get smooth color transitions.

Then covered it with embossing powder.

This made the colors brighter and added gloss.

I used chipboard Boho Floral Arrow.   I’m just in love with this wonderful design !!!

I added Prima’s flowers as a base for the chipboard and creating layers and volume.

I have made with this products by Bad Girls Couture.

Enchanted Steampunk Wreath

Hey everyone and good Tuesday to ya!  Today I’m getting into some a little home decor DIYing!  This little steampunked beauty has been in my brain for a while so I’m thrilled to finally see it through.  I made a little process video for you so you can see the process as I made it.  Take a peek!

Basically I coated a Dollar Tree vine wreath with a coat of “Fallen Angel” Haute Mess paint and then accented the crevices with a bit of watered down paint in “Distortion” and “Million Dollar Baby”.  I then added Haute Mess Glass Bead Gel and allowed it to dry fully before rubbing on a bit of “Drama Queen” and then an acrylic metallic copper to accent.  Next I painted some chipboard pieces from A Vintage Girl as my accent pieces (rubbing with an acrylic metallic ) glued them on the wreath.  I also tucked in some reindeer moss in the cracks and secured with glue then finished it off with a ribbon for hanging.

Supplies Used:

Haute Mess Paint “C-Note”
Haute Mess Paint “Million Dollar Baby”
Haute Mess Paint “Distortion”
Haute Mess Paint “Fallen Angel
Haute Mess Glass Bead Gel
A Vintage Girl Chipboard
Metallic Copper Acrylic Paint
Reindeer Moss

Canvas My soul’s garden by Elena

Hello! Hello Bad girls!
It’s Elena here today to share a project with you.
I have created a Mixed Media canvas, using my favourite Haute Mess Mediums & Paints.

I very rarely buy a finished canvas in the store.

As a rule, I make it myself from a box of chocolates and a piece of cloth.

I paint the Haute Mess White Gesso well and dry it.

In addition, I tried to get rid of another unnecessary thing.

It’s a little rake from the garden set. I use small shovels to transplant potted flowers,

but the rake is always not in demand.

To start, I smeared the paint on the canvas.

Then applied texture paste and craquelure paste to create the effect of cracked plaster.

Painted rake: handle with Caution Tape  and Million Dollar Baby

and the rake with Kiss & Don’t Tell and Drop Dead Gorgeous

Decorated with flowers, sisal, chipboard and carved pictures.

I have then used my Haute Mess Glass Bead Gel, to add texture to the canvas.

I love my garden, when spring comes, I just love to plant plants and care for them!

I hope I was able to share with you my love of nature in this canvas!

Give Me Eyes to See

Hey girlies!  Happy Monday!  Today I’m gonna show y’all what I did with this wonderful tab page in my Haute Mess journal.  I’ve got a bit of a theme going in my journal right now so I’m rolling with it and continuing what I have going on and this is what is on my mind and on my heart so in my journal it goes!

Take a look at the process video for details on how I created this background using a technique I like to call “paint smushing”.

VIEW VIDEO HERE

It’s basically adding dashes of paint to your page or canvas then covering it with another paper or in this case I used a sheet of clear acetate so you could see the process take place.  You cover the paint with the second sheet of paper and smush it, smoothing it out so the paint can blend and come to the edges a bit.  Once you peel the paper up it makes a wonderful blended and textured design.

Oh Snap Scrapbook Layout | Donna Espiritu

Hello, Bad Girls! Donna here back with a new project. I made a scrapbook layout for you today using some Haute Mess Mixed Media products.

I started with white cardstock as a background. I dry brushed the acrylic paints (Kiss & Don’t Tell, Drama Queen, Sweet Candy Kisses) and then splatted with diluted Bad & Tatted.

I did a lot of fussy cutting too from different papers in my CK Full Bloom April kit. I love the mixture of colors with a pop of black. The paints matched perfectly with the palette from the papers and embellishments I used.

I prepared a process video for you all and you can watch it by clicking HERE or the video below.

I hope you liked my project today.
