Not Lucky…BLESSED!

What better way to get over midweek than with a COLOUR SPLASH?!

For this layout I just went all in.  I mixed it all up.  I cut up papers, I did machine stitching, I cut up the foam glitter sticker words to make them work for my page, I finger painted, I stenciled molding paste, I inked edges, I water colored, I just went nuts y’all!

But sometimes we need to just unleash!

Here you can see how I cut the American Crafts Foam sticker words to customize them to fit what I wanted to say on my page.  I may have used an “n” or a “u” turned on it’s side to make an “s” or trimmed another random letter down to make a “d” but when you put them all together it looks right!  LOL!

But you know, it still looks rather composed because the papers and supplies in this kit, although all very different really do mesh well together in a very hip and fashionable way.  I love how fresh it feels.

And lets talk about the stenciling molding paste on here, I use molding paste a lot but I don’t normally do it on patterned paper.  (Just scrape it over your stencil with a palette knife then lift your stencil)  Can I just say how much I love the effect it made!  The texture was wonderful and when I came over it once it was dried with some bright watercolors…it just popped!  You have to try it!

Nostalgic Christmas Cottage!!

Who grew up with those sweet little vintage looking cottage houses with the white painted and glittered roofs either on their Christmas trees or on their tables at Christmas?  I know my grandma always had them and they were so sweet!  Well they are so easy to make!  And the papers in this month’s kit are so cool and funky that you can make the neatest retro ones that have an updated twist that will be such a fun and add a fresh pop of color in your decor!

Using some basic card stock I had in my stash and some textured paper I created the base of it and then used all the beautiful papers from the kit to embellish it and bring it to life!  You really could create it just from the papers in the kit but I wanted it to have a little more structure.

So heres how what you need to construct the basic house

Cut two squares and two squares with a pointed rooftop from a heavier card stock or even cardboard if you want it really sturdy.  Then cut out a large rectangle out of whatever paper or material you would like to cover your roof.  I used texutred wallpaper for mine and trimmed the edges with decorative edge scissors.  I didn’t include measurements because I really just eyed mine and you can adjust your depending on how large you want them.

Next you will tape the pieces together (from the inside) side by side till you form a cube constructing the outside of the house.

Lastly you will secure the roof on with tape from the inside as well.  Again, if you are using heavier materials like cardboard you may want to use a heavier adhesive like hot glue or something similar.

Now comes the FUN part!!  I used all the AMAZING papers and glitters in the kit to decorate!!

I covered the front of the house with one of my favorite papers in the kit because I just loved the graphic black and white of it and thought it was a great contrast to the colors.  Then I added a hand cut whimsical scalloped corner edge to the front sides.  I also cut out three identical trees and then folded creased them in half and glued them to themselves so they would form a three dimensional tree that would stand on it’s own at the front of the house.  I used one of the large felt flowers as a door mat.  You can cut out a door, windows, or whatever you like.

The wreath over the door was created by punching out a bunch of branches with a punch and glue dotting them in a circular shape with a circle of the same paper as beneath it to appear there is a hole in the middle like a wreath.  Finally, I created “snow” along the roof top with some of the Bad Girls Couture Gesso and applied the glitter from the kit while it was still wet.

It was a fun project that could be adapted for kids projects, Halloween, Easter or any season really!  Y’all have fun creating!!

A whole new world

Today is Saturday, and I come to you with a new page from the set in November “joie de vivre”. And again on my daughter page). This year, she went to live in Thailand, and in front of her new life. I had to buy my princess motorcycle helmet LOL … I just opened one of his photos in the Instagram, but I did not use the entire picture, I cut it on a motorbike through the contour.

And I created a landscape of artistic means. Let’s see what happens)).

For the background I used a sheet of paper from Prima and  Gesso Bad Girls Couture from  a set of November “joie de vivre”. Then I did some texture work, using my favorite stencil and plaster Couture Girls Bad . I gave some time to completely dry.

I added a little metallic luster, I just picked up the wax and put it on the surface texture background. I liked the texture and even the smell  Metallique Wax))) from Prima. 

I would like to mark the outline of the road, have I had a lot of ideas, but they were all rejected))) And wax came to my aid, I drew the road and cut it out of the paper. Then I put it in the background and outlined the contours of togo  Metallique wax. Old silver has the effect: we seem to see the road, and it does not seem to exist. …. It seems to dissolve this in mind!

To make your project more beautiful, I’m an alcoholic ink and played with them a bit. I like to meditate with alcohol inks. I like the way they are laid out on paper. You do not know what you’ll see in a moment, and it’s interesting.

I love my assistant plotter, I cut out a lot of palm leaves from green patterned paper. I tore some strips of green paper. Then I stained the edges slightly. so that no white remains.

With the title, I also helped plotter, first I cut out of black paper. Then I set the premium and cut terracotta paper.

To give some texture to the leaves, I used hot stamping. I just splashed water and sprinkle it with a transparent powder. She baked small raindrops on the leaves. It looks really cool!

Making a Splash…A “Colour Splash”!

Happy Hump Day peeps!!  What better subject matter to share on Colour Splash than a journal about ship life?!  Get it?  Splash…ok that was bad…moving on.  LOL!

Ok, so the reeeeeeasonn I am sharing this for Colour splash is not exactly for the irony, although it I though it was genius…I didn’t realize that till after!  I’m sharing this with you today because I mixed colors in this project that I probably wouldn’t normally think to put together.  Honestly, I really went for it and mixed really victorian florals with really retro looking graphic prints and that’s not something I would normally do either.  I didn’t realize it till I started flipping papers around and mixing the companies together that this kit really lends it self to some awesome color mixing that pushed me out of my norm, which was really fun on this journal!!

The Cover was made with two different papers in the Prima “Welcome to Paris Collection” and accented with cut outs from the Prima “Zella Teal Collection” and the Prima “French Riviera Collection.  I really love how the nautical feeling of the “French Riviera Collection” set the tone for the “Ship Life” theme of the journal that will establish what will be my cruise journal and the flowers of the “Zella Teal Collection” give it a very victorian and feminine feeling with beautiful metallic touches of silver.  I carried the metallic silver touches over to the paper Prima flowers with the Metallique wax that was in the kit (which is divine by the way).  To also give it some texture and pizazz I scrapped some Bad Girls Couture Gesso along the bottom of the cover and adhered some gold corse glitter to the wet gesso.  I love that it kinda looks like sand but more glamorous;)

I added a couple pockets on the inside cover to hold some little journaling cards and tags I cut out of the Prima “French Riviara Collection” paper.  Also, since the back of the paper I used for the cover was a bright burgundy with a pattern that I didn’t think went well with the rest of the project, I used a thin coat of the Bad Girls Couture gesso to cover and distress it, along with a little swipe of my brown stamp pad.  Worked out pretty well.

Finally I just cut some plain white paper to size and folded it in half to fit inside, punched two holes in the spine and ran some elastic (you could use string or ribbon) and tied it together to bind it.  I like the idea of elastic because it gives a bit if I want to add some memorabilia like folded brochures or tickets later.  Then just tied a bit of the scrap lace from the kit to the top of the elastic binding.

It was such a fun project to play with mixing colors and patters.  Now y’all go splash into your kits!!
