Mixed Media Wooden Pumpkin

Happy Saturday Y’all!

Today I’m bringing a fun mixed media project so break out all the things!

I started off with an unfinished wooden pumpkin ornament and I applied a coat of Haute Mess white gesso.  Then I applied Molding Paste through a stencil and allowed it to dry before applying a series of color washes in two amazing Haute Mess pink colors, “Couture Pink” and “Sweet Candy Kisses”.

I couldn’t leave good enough alone so I flicked a bit of diluted torrid to the still wet paint and allowed it to bleed into the design.  Next I applied Haute Mess glass bead gel and then rubbed on some gold metallic.

Once all the paints were dry I glued all my awesome emblishements on and added some glitters with some Haute Mess Matte Gel Medium.

It sounds like a lot but it really was a quick, fun project!

I hope you are inspired to make something beautiful today!

DO MORE OF WHAT YOU LOVE

Good morning friends! My term with Bad Girls Couture is coming to an end and I am just now decorating the first page of my art journal. It’s been such a fun year playing in my one of a kind art journal. I have to admit, I wasn’t so sure I could do art journal spreads… the first few months were a challenge. After a few pages into the journal and stopped trying to hard and I just did whatever I liked. Some months, I scrapbooked a page in the art journal and others, I just pulled out my paints, molding paste and stencils and just created a fun mixed media background. SUPER FUN.

For this page, I used washi tape to create the triangles. Then I carefully added the stencil on the right side and created the pattern using molding paste. Once each triangle was completely dry, I made the others, touching up lightly here and there. Simple, but fun.

I used foam squares to mount the chipboard sentiment to the center then I glued the yellow gems below the chipboard to make it more feminine. I just love this page.

I am totally loving the color combination as well. I used Kiss & Don’t Tell and X-rated paint.

Come back on the 20th. I am going to create a fun flip through video of all the pages I created this year. If you haven’t purchased your Art Journal, do it today because you WILL love it. I have a brand new art journal waiting for me… This one is almost full!

Thanks so much for visiting. Hope you have a fabulous week!

Get Out of Your Head

Happy Weekend my artsy peeps!  Today I’m sharing sort of a SNAP OUT OF IT journal page!  LOL!

Y’all know y’all talk to yourselves in your journal too!  So I opened up my “Cobblestone Lane” Haute Mess Journal and just went after it!

I applied a layer of molding paste to one of the canvas pages in the journal and allowed it to dry well.  I also applied some molding paste though a brick stencil to give some heavy texture and anchor the bottom of the page.  I then applied a thin layer of white gesso to the paint would flow well on the page.

Next I put down a stencil and applied some watered down “Torrid” Haute Mess paint, cleaning up the edges with a baby wipe and again allowed to dry well.

Next I laid down another part of the same stencil and applied some “Kiss and Don’t Tell” Haute Mess paint with a baby wipe (by dabbing it lightly) to give another layer.

For yet another layer, I did the same dabbing with a baby wipe with another part of the same stencil using Haute Mess “Bad & Tatted” and a baby wipe.

Finally I added some stickers for a title and inked the entire page to show off all the wonderful texture.  I also took a sharpie and outlined parts of the stenciled numbers to make it pop a bit.

You can see the entire process in the process video below.
