Today, I’m sharing a vintage style layout using some of the beautiful, timeless 7 Gypsies papers from the November scrapbook kit. 7 Gypsies is my go-to paper for all things vintage- the patterns are unique, yet classic, and will always give you the worn-out beautiful look that makes your projects look ANTIQUATED!
Here’s my layout:
So, I used all 4 sheets of 7 Gypsies paper from the kit- the background page is perfect as is- the only thing I did to this paper was give it a light white-washing of watered down Bad Girls Couture Gesso (This gesso is perfect- you NEED IT!).
I did the same to the black patterned paper- minimal white washing for a slightly more distressed look to tone down the dark- it’s a small detail that adds so much to the composition of nearly any vintage project.
I cut out some bricks from one of the pieces of paper to tuck under the flower clusters- I distressed the pieces, then inked with black chalk ink for added definition.
I also cut out a frame using one of my favorite Sizzix dies, and made flowers with the tan and red polka dot paper.
I also white-washed the flowers with the gesso- the red flowers are from my stash, but could easily be made by hand, which I WAS going to do with the leftovers of one of my projects with the red Prima Marketing paper from the kit, but I MAY have accidentally thrown it away! 🙁
Behind the flowers, I used some pieces of an old applique I had. I love the look of using fabric and appliques on vintage projects. I knew it would be a good fit for this layout, but when I was working on my design, I noticed that the applique was the same shade as the lace trim from the kit, so I colored the applique pieces with some pigment powders.
The Prima Marketing peridot rhinestones from the kit were the perfect accent for the frame, which really ties the green from the applique and the papers all together. I cut up the cup chain to add the rhinestones in different sizes individually to highlight the die cut frame.
Lastly, I added a title and a heart locket from my stash to complete the design.
Thanks for stopping by the blog and taking a look at my layout! Be sure to grab a November kit from the SHOPPES, if you haven’t already!
